When the slop slips

As a software engineer, I almost don’t code anymore, but I instruct AI to do so on my behalf. And while I am at it, and I don’t necessarily need to share a lot of of myself in the descriptions I also let it write some comments and some descriptions for me. With one important command, though: don’t publish anything let me review it.

But sometime AI slop slips. Sometimes it doesn’t follow instruction and publishes instead of drafting and sometimes the draft looks quite convincing, although otherwise incorrect, and I let it go through.

It’s actually quite embarrassing when it happens. But my team has actually been very open about AI being sloppy and letting some through some of the time. we are very candid about acknowledging that it happens sometimes. We just make a quick apology and fix it. It’s a little bit similar to missing an on-call page. It is human nature to slip sometime and we understand that from each other.
